While some students learn perfectly well in the company of others and enjoy studying complex information alongside likeminded peers, not everyone performs at their best in a group setting. Some students worry about holding the group back, not grasping concepts fast enough and forcing everyone else to wait until they have mastered something. Alternatively, other students experience frustration because even though they have mastered something, they must wait until others in the group have similarly understood the concept before they can move on to studying something else, resulting in boredom or disillusionment. Not all students learn best in a collaborative environment, and many students prefer a customized program of study created to focus on their unique test-taking needs. If you know you learn best through didactic instruction and a study syllabus that allows you to go at your own pace, we encourage you to consider working with a private tutor at Manhattan Review. We are pleased to provide Jakarta students with all the educational tools to become respected leaders in various fields, and becoming a leader starts with attending a respected graduate, business, or law program. Regardless of the degree you intend to pursue or the university you plan to attend, let your success start with a high standardized test score, the kind of test score we specialize in at Manhattan Review.

The GRE is an important part of the graduate school application process, and this test is used in admissions decisions for graduate, business, and law school programs around the world. The GRE General Test is designed to closely reflect the sort of thinking employees and executives are required to perform in today's fast-paced business environments. The exam assesses verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing abilities, intentionally focusing on skills that have been developed and strengthened over a long period of time and can be applied to vastly different jobs and positions. GRE scores range between 130 to 170 in the verbal and quantitative sections of the exam, and the writing portion is scored on a scale ranging from 0 to 6 using half-point increments. In order to be competitive for the highest-ranking graduate programs, it is imperative to do well on the GRE. An average total GRE score is around 300, but for those seeking admission to the world's best graduate, business, or law programs, scores will need to be far above average. A score of 318 at the 75th percentile is considered "good," whereas a score of 329 at the 90th percentile is considered "excellent." At Manhattan Review, we can help you obtain those excellent scores and take the next step in your academic and/or professional life.

Manhattan Review has been offering world-class test prep instruction since 1999, and we are proud to have broken down the GRE into components than can be mastered, allowing our students to secure admittance into prestigious colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. GRE Prep Course Jakarta - Photo of Student Tamara

I would like to let you know that I took the GRE on Monday, December 6th and earned a score of 1200 (600 verbal, 600 quantitative). I think that I did very well on the essay portion of the test as well but won't receive those scores in the mail for a couple weeks or so. I would like to thank my instructor (George S.) and Manhattan Review for helping me to increase my score so much (I got a 1050 the first time I took the GRE in 2002) Thank you very much.

Meet a Jakarta GRE Tutor: Arjun V.

Arjun was born in Chennai, India, but moved to the United States as a child when his father got a job in New York. "I loved growing up in New York City," recalls Arjun. "It was so exciting and things were constantly happening…I loved the fast pace, possibly because it reminded me of home." Arjun was fortunate to return to India frequently to visit extended family, and he remembers family members being so excited over his grasp of the English language and what he was studying in school. Arjun loved computers from an early age and was a proud cofounder of a coding club at his school. "I saw technology as a constantly evolving tool I wanted to completely understand so I could someday use it for good," shares Arjun. In addition to his coding activities, Arjun hosted a weekly tech-related podcast through his school, held various officer positions in a variety of extracurricular organizations, including model U.N. and student government, and organized cultural neighborhood events as a junior member of the local chamber of commerce. Arjun knew he wanted to study computer science and engineering, and he was thrilled when he was accepted to Yale University, his first-choice undergraduate program.

After graduating from Yale, Arjun wanted to continue his education by pursuing an advanced degree. "I knew getting into the most competitive computer engineering programs would be incredibly challenging," he says, "because there are always more applications than there are available seats, and everyone has worked so hard." Fortunately for Arjun, his family pulled their resources and made it financially possible for him to prepare for the GRE with a private tutor. Arjun worked hard with his tutor, completing assigned work outside of tutoring meetings and following the study plan he and his tutor had agreed on. "I took so many practice GRE tests, I lost count," he admits, "but when I took the real test, I was so prepared and knew exactly what to expect, and that kept me from feeling nervous." Arjun performed exceptionally well on his GRE and was admitted to CalTech, where he obtained advanced degrees in computer engineering and robotics. When he was offered a job with a company in Jakarta shortly after graduating, he and his husband decided to make the move and start a new life in a different country.

Arjun found great satisfaction in his work and obtained multiple promotions over the years, but after working from home part-time after he and his husband adopted a baby, Arjun realized he wanted to try something new: preparing the next generation of company leaders and strategic thinkers. He had spent multiple semesters as a teaching assistant in grad school and had loved helping students master challenging information. He began working with local students preparing to take the GRE, offering private tutoring from the kitchen of his apartment. After witnessing the success of those students who had worked with Arjun, more students began to request tutoring with him, and Arjun eventually joined the team at Manhattan Review. Those students fortunate to work with Arjun appreciate his patience, as well as his ability to help them learn time management skills and how to decrease their test-related anxiety. Arjun continues to work as a computer engineer in addition to working as a tutor, and when he's not helping future graduate school students, he can be found playing the guitar, taking Indonesian language lessons with his husband and daughter, and visiting local cafes in search of the best teh manis, or sweet tea.
